UNIVERSITY

Southern Adventist University

This is a great way for high school juniors and seniors to experience what it looks and feels like to be a part of Southern. Explore our 1,300-acre campus, talk with professors from areas you're considering as a major, and audition for music scholarships.

Our student leaders even take you off-campus for a fun activity in Chattanooga, voted the No. 1 city in America by readers of Outside Magazine. We pick up the tab for meals and accommodations for you and your immediate family. Search available dates and register.

You are welcome to visit Southern at any time during the year, but for true one-on-one attention we recommend our guided tours, which are available on certain dates throughout the year. We answer your questions honestly about what it takes to succeed at Southern, but don't shy away from talking about all the fun you will have here, too. Schedule a visit, get directions and lodging information.

Southern offers a free 3-credit-hour class in the summer for undergraduates enrolling for the first time. Just pay for books, food, and rent, and the tuition is on us. But it's not all about the money (although saving more than $1,750 is pretty sweet). SmartStart is a great opportunity to learn your way around campus, make some early friendships, and get accustomed to the independence and responsibility that university life is all about. Campus Safety is on duty 24/7 to ensure a safe environment for students, faculty, and visitors. We also provide services such as:

  • Vehicle assistance—jumpstarts, air in tires, and out-of-gas assistance
  • Lost & Found
  • On-campus safety escorts after dark
  • Severe-weather monitoring

Emergency Notification
Text message alerts are sent to students in case of an emergency on campus.

The university is very proud of the achievements of the thousands of graduates and attendees who have experienced Southern through the years. Your continued support for your alma mater with your time, talents, and treasure is most appreciated. You are Southern's greatest ambassador!

Here's how you can get more involved:

  • provide internships through your business
  • recruit and hire Southern graduates
  • mentor students and other alumni through the LEAP (Leadership Education through Alumni Partnerships) program
  • volunteer to help with special events and projects on and off campus
  • pray for God's continued guidance for students, faculty, and staff
  • spread the word to potential students about the strong academic programs
  • encourage family and friends to attend
  • make a lasting impact on future generations by making a gift

Be sure to stay connected to each other and to the university through Southern Community online ! Let me know how Southern can best serve you. We value your input and ideas.

University of Tennessee at Chattanooga

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga is a national model for metropolitan universities. In collaboration with our many regional partners, we offer our students an experiential learning environment graced with outstanding teaching scholars in bachelor's, master's, and doctoral programs.

If you look around the campus at The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, you will find a message chiseled for eternity into the stone of our structures. Faciemus is Latin for “We shall achieve.” A bold commitment that guides us in everything we do, and tells the world what to expect from our campus. At UTC, we achieve, and so will you.

Freshman and sophomore students from six counties in North Georgia and one in Alabama can now save thousands of dollars when they attend the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga through the advantage of UTC's regional tuition rate. Participating students pay in-state tuition plus 25 percent of the out-of-state tuition.

The new regional tuition rate for freshmen and sophomores goes into effect for student entering fall 2017.

Students from Catoosa, Dade, Fannin, Murray, Walker and Whitfield counties in North Georgia and Jackson County in Alabama who are admitted to UTC as undergraduates in good academic standing are eligible for the regional tuition discount. The rate is available to both full-time and part-time students.

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga is equipped with high-tech learning and research facilities and graced with a faculty of teaching scholars—not teaching assistants. Through internships, cooperative education assignments, and other experiential learning opportunities, our students learn in a laboratory as large as our world.

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga is on a journey to excellence. We work with partners to harness our collective willpower and brainpower to find solutions that improve lives and build communities.

Over the past year, the UTC Strategic Planning Steering Committee has engaged in listening and learning with an eye and an ear toward impacting student success and building stronger ties between our campus and our communities.

Join us in our vision to Engage Students, Inspire Change and Enrich Community. The journey to excellence has begun.
